Speaking in Tongues

Delicious facts that will roll off your tongue…

  1. Your tongue is responsible for getting rid of yucky tasting food when eating something that tastes funky. The proper etiquette (as per Emily Post) is to raise your fork to your mouth and subtly use your tongue to remove the object from your mouth and place it on your fork.

  2. Your tongue is like a fingerprint or snowflake, each one is unique.

  3. Tongue taste receptors cannot actually taste food until saliva has moistened it. For example, we usually taste salty things first as salt dissolves quickly in moisture.

  4. The condition of your tongue can help make a specific health diagnoses (see below!).

  5. Using your tongue while kissing can burn 120 calories per hour, which amounts to 2 calories per minute. You probably won’t drop pounds just by kissing, but it won’t hurt either.
